Sam Ruby, secretary for the IETF working group that's creating the Atom protocol specification, has scheduled all open proposals for the format for discussion or for closure. With fifteen proposals scheduled for discussion and three for closure, it's a much bigger batch than usual. Is it too much all at once, or are we really nearing the end this time?

Activity on the mailing list is heavy. My sense is that a lot of stuff is going to get tossed out, and that although some people would like to keep some of it, not much of it will be fought for very hard--and that we're going to get to 1.0 after not too much longer. How accurate is my sense? Time will tell.
