Mowing the Bees

A month or so ago, I loaned my lawn mower to the neighbors. They returned it with the bag full of grass. Since I don't use the bag, I just set it aside and forgot about it. Today, I was going to look for something I thought might have fallen behind the bag, and when I tossed the bag aside, I thought I heard a buzzing sound coming from it. It was faint, so at first, I thought it might just be an echo from one of the nearby lawn mowers that was running at the time, but later when I bumped the bag, the buzzing was unmistakable.

Not long after, I saw two mid-sized bees--perhaps small bumble bees (we've had at least one buzzing around the house recently)--in the area. Needless to say, I was less than excited about dealing with the problem. It seems the bees inside had been trapped by a shift in the grass grass, because no more than two got out.

After ignoring things for a while, I came across a plastic bag big enough to hold the mower bag. Whenever I bumped the bag too much, I'd hear an angry buzzing inside. A little at a time, I wrapped it up and closed it with a few twist ties that I'd connected together.

What's next? Since I don't use the bag, maybe I'll just leave it that way for now!
